Salary

The University will compensate adjuncts at a flat rate of $800 per number of credits (adjusted credit hours) granted toward the faculty load.

Job Summary/Basic Function

The School of Journalism & Strategic Media at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for an adjunct instructor position to teach advertising and public relations. Course topics may include media buying, strategic writing, and/or introductory courses (in-person, online, or both). This is a part-time position and does not include benefits. Classes begin on August 24, 2026, and will end on December 10, 2026.

Required Education

A master's degree in advertising, public relations, strategic communication, journalism, mass communication, or a communication or media-related field is required. A bachelor's degree with two years of professional experience may be considered in lieu of a master's degree.

Other Desirables

Applicants with experience in teaching at the college level, an industry background, and agency experience will receive special consideration.
