Job Summary/Basic Function

The Department of Media Arts at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, temporary (non-tenurable) faculty position (#144020) in video and film production at the rank of lecturer. This is a one-year temporary appointment. The contract may be renewed annually based on available funding, demonstrated need, and satisfactory performance as assessed by annual evaluations. The start date for the appointment is January 1, 2027.

The successful candidate will teach a wide range of video and film production courses, including, but not limited to, preproduction, production, and postproduction, as well as aesthetics, history, and theory.

Required Education

A master's degree in video and film production or a closely related field is required by the appointment date. A bachelor's degree with three (3) years of full-time or six (6) years of part-time verifiable professional experience will be considered in lieu of a master's degree. In lieu of a master's or bachelor's degree, ten (10) years of full-time or twenty (20) years of part-time verifiable professional experience will be considered. Professional experience must be in cinematography, filmmaking, TV/film production, directing, editing, technical direction, or production executive roles.

Other Desirables

Applicants who include evidence in their application materials of instructional experience, such as conducting professional seminars, chairing presentations, or offering tutorials in areas relevant to the courses they will teach, will receive special consideration. In addition, applicants who include relevant awards, industry memberships, or certifications in creative/technical areas in their application materials will receive special consideration.

Teacher 1 - Ann Campbell Early Learning Center (ACE)

Reporting to the Director of the Ann Campbell Early Learning Center (ACE), the Teacher will create developmentally appropriate learning environments and experiences for toddlers and/or preschoolers with and without developmental delays, based on individual child assessments and developmentally appropriate practices. The Teacher will collaborate with a co-teacher and other classroom adults to facilitate the learning and development of all children through active engagement in a variety of daily activities and routines. The Teacher will support families as they transition their children to and from the Center each day and will model effective practices and provide guidance and information to University students completing course requirements within the classroom. The Teacher will also perform other related duties and special projects as assigned.

Classroom Assistant Teacher

Assist lead teacher with carrying out the daily activities of the classroom, including leading and engaging children in small and large group activities, assisting with regular routine tasks such as toileting, preparing and assisting with snacks and lunch, and supervising children at all times.
