Job Summary/Basic Function
The Data Analyst for Academic Programs plays a critical role in supporting data-informed decision-making across the College of Behavioral and Health Sciences (CBHS). This position is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and reporting data related to student recruitment, enrollment management, retention and persistence, academic program effectiveness, student learning outcomes, accreditation metrics, and post-graduation career success.
The analyst collaborates with CBHS academic departments, college leadership, institutional research, and external stakeholders to develop insights that enhance student success, optimize program performance, and support strategic planning initiatives.
This position directly contributes to the College’s mission by enhancing student success, improving program quality, supporting accreditation efforts, and aligning academic offerings with workforce needs. The Data Analyst for Academic Programs serves as a key partner in advancing evidence-based strategies that improve recruitment, retention, graduation, and career outcomes for students.
Required Education
Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Applied Data Sciences, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Educational Research, Higher Education Administration, Social Sciences, Public Health, or a closely related field with demonstrated coursework or experience in data analysis and reporting.
Required Related Experience
Experience collecting, organizing, analyzing, and reporting data to support decision-making, assessment, research, program evaluation, or continuous improvement efforts. Experience may be gained through employment, internships, assistantships, coursework, or applied academic projects.
Desirable Related Experience
Higher Education Data and Student Success Analytics - Knowledge of higher education data systems, student information systems, enrollment management processes, and key student success metrics, including recruitment, retention, persistence, graduation, and post-graduation outcomes.
Data Analysis, Research, and Assessment - Experience working with large datasets and across databases. Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods, statistical analysis, program evaluation, student learning outcomes assessment, and continuous improvement practices used to support academic decision-making.
Reporting, Visualization, and Decision Support - Knowledge of data reporting, dashboard development, data visualization, and performance measurement techniques that communicate complex information effectively and support evidence-based planning and decision-making.
Accreditation, Compliance, and Institutional Effectiveness - Familiarity with accreditation processes and student learning outcomes assessment. Knowledge of accreditation standards, regulatory reporting requirements, institutional effectiveness processes, and data governance principles, including the protection and responsible use of student data.
Workforce Trends and Strategic Planning - Knowledge of labor market trends, workforce needs, career outcomes assessment, and strategic planning processes that align academic programs with student, employer, and community needs.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to communicate complex data clearly to non-technical audiences

Power BI Data Analyst Associate
Tableau Desktop Specialist
Google Data Analytics Professional Certificate
Association for Institutional Research (AIR) training/certificates
Assessment training through Association for the Assessment of Learning in Higher Education (AALHE) or Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.(SACSCOC)
and/or other professional development or certification in assessment, accreditation, institutional research, or higher education analytics
