Job Summary/Basic Function

Reporting to the Director of the Ann Campbell Early Learning Center (ACE), the Teacher will create developmentally appropriate learning environments and experiences for toddlers and/or preschoolers with and without developmental delays, based on individual child assessments and developmentally appropriate practices. The Teacher will collaborate with a co-teacher and other classroom adults to facilitate the learning and development of all children through active engagement in a variety of daily activities and routines.

The Teacher will support families as they transition their children to and from the Center each day and will model effective practices and provide guidance and information to University students completing course requirements within the classroom. The Teacher will also perform other related duties and special projects as assigned.

Required Education

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in one of the following areas:
- Early Childhood Education
- Early Childhood Special Education
- Elementary Education
- Child Development and Family Studies
- A closely related field that prepares individuals to teach or work with young children, birth through age five, such as Deaf Education, Visual Disabilities, Communication Disorders, or Speech-Language Pathology.

Required Related Experience

Two (2) years of experience working with young children, birth through age five.

Required License/Registration/Certification

Active Tennessee Teaching License:
-Early Childhood Education
-Early Childhood Education Special Education Integrated PreK-3
-Elementary Education
-Special Education

Desirable Related Experience

Experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred:

- Working with young children, birth through age five, with a variety of developmental and learning needs.
- Planning and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum and individualized learning experiences.
- Conducting developmental assessments and using assessment information to guide instructional planning and individual supports.
- Working collaboratively with families and other professionals to support children’s development and learning.
- Participating in the Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) process and implementing strategies, supports, or goals identified through an IFSP or other individualized plan.
- Working in a university-affiliated early childhood program, laboratory school, training site, or similar educational setting.
- Mentoring, supervising, or providing guidance to college students, interns, practicum students, student employees, or volunteers in an early childhood classroom.
- Collaborating with University faculty, researchers, related-service professionals, or community agencies.
- Participating in early childhood program quality improvement, recognition, accreditation, licensing, or regulatory processes.

Counselor - Counseling Services - 10 Month

Counselor – Counseling Services Middle Tennessee State University seeks a Counselor to provide short-term mental health counseling and crisis intervention to enrolled students. Reporting to the Associate Director of Counseling Services, the Counselor works primarily independently within a collaborative, team-oriented university counseling center serving a diverse student population. This is a 10-month position (August through May), 37.5 hours per week. Key Responsibilities: • Conduct mental health intakes and provide brief individual counseling using a short-term model of care • Provide crisis intervention, including suicide and violence risk assessment and coordination of hospitalization when needed • Refer students with long-term or specialized needs to community and psychiatric providers to ensure continuity of care • Facilitate counseling and skill-building groups • Deliver psychoeducational outreach to classes, student groups, orientation programs, and faculty/staff • Consult with faculty, staff, administrators, and parents regarding student mental health concerns Candidates must hold a master’s degree in psychology, counseling, social work, or marriage and family counseling, with at least nine (9) months of experience providing direct mental health services. Applicants must have applied for Tennessee licensure as an LPC-MHSP, LCSW, LMFT, LSPE-HSP, or PhD/PsyD HSP, with the ability to be fully licensed within two years. Applicants licensed in another state must obtain Tennessee licensure within one year. Current Tennessee licensure and three years of post-licensure experience in a university counseling center are strongly preferred.
