Job Summary/Basic Function
Independently maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and replace complex HVAC, refrigeration, and control systems for campus facilities. Perform advanced diagnostics, system installations, major equipment replacements, and controls work. Serve as a technical resource for lower-classification staff and ensure HVAC systems operate efficiently, safely, and reliably.
- Perform advanced preventive maintenance and system optimization
- Diagnose complex HVAC malfunctions and determine repair vs. replacement
- Install and replace HVAC equipment and control systems
- Perform electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and DDC control work
- Read and interpret complex wiring schematics and control drawings
- Coordinate with vendors for specialized parts and services
- Verify work quality and assist in guiding lower classification technicians
- Respond to critical system failures and emergency situations
Required Education
High school diploma or High School Equivalency
Required Related Experience
Significant experience with a wide variety of HVAC systems, or completion of a recognized HVAC apprenticeship
Required License/Registration/Certification
- EPA certification required
- Valid driver's license required.
Desirable Related Experience
410 A certification preferred
