Job Summary/Basic Function

The Department of Accounting at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, temporary (non-tenurable) faculty position at the rank of lecturer. This is a one-year temporary appointment. The contract may be renewed annually based on available funding, demonstrated need, and satisfactory performance as assessed by annual evaluations. The appointment start date is August 1, 2026.

We seek a student-focused educator committed to excellence in teaching and to preparing the next generation of accounting professionals. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate accounting courses, maintain regular office hours, and contribute to a supportive learning environment that promotes student achievement and professional development.

Required Education

Applicants must meet one of the following educational requirements:

  • Master’s degree in accounting.
  • Master’s degree in management or business administration with eighteen (18) graduate hours in accounting.
  • Bachelor of Science in Accounting, currently licensed as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), and six (6) years of professional experience in accounting.

Other Desirables

Applicants with the following will receive special consideration:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or other related certifications.
  • Professional experience in accounting.
  • Prior teaching experience.

Qualified candidates will possess advanced clinical expertise, strong leadership and supervisory skills, experience managing mental health crises, and a commitment to evidence-based, student-centered care. Candidates must hold a master's degree in counseling or social work, or a doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) in psychology, and five years of post-licensure clinical counseling experience that includes supervisory and progressive administrative responsibilities. Tennessee licensure and Supervisor of Record eligibility requirements must be met at the time of hire. Experience in a public university counseling center is strongly preferred.
