Job Summary/Basic Function

The Department of Recording Industry at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, temporary (non-tenurable) faculty position (#712010) at the rank of lecturer. This is a one-year temporary appointment. The contract may be renewed annually based on available funding, demonstrated need, and satisfactory performance as assessed by annual evaluations. The start date for the appointment is August 1, 2025.

The successful candidate is expected to teach undergraduate courses in music business, with a focus on survey of the recording industry, music publishing, music licensing, and all related subjects.

Required Education

A master's degree in recording industry, music, or a closely related field, or a bachelor's degree in recording industry, music, or a closely related field with two (2) years of full-time recording industry professional work experience is required by the appointment date.

Required Related Experience

Four (4) years of full-time, recording industry professional work experience is required. To receive experience credit for full-time, freelance work, applicants must list each project, including the project's length, specifying the months worked, on their CVs.

Other Desirables

Applicants with experience teaching college-level courses and curriculum development; evidence of strong music industry relationships; proficiency with presentation technology; and experience with online and remote course delivery tools will receive special consideration.
