Job Summary/Basic Function
The Department of Criminal Justice Administration at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, temporary (non-tenurable) faculty position (#121040) at the rank of lecturer. This is a one-year temporary appointment. The start date for the appointment is August 1, 2025.
Teaching responsibilities may include a combination of undergraduate courses in Introduction to Criminal Justice, Judicial Process, Criminal Investigations, and Emergency Management. The lecturer will be required to teach courses on-site and online and to be regularly available to students during office hours. Before teaching online courses, the lecturer must receive the appropriate training to teach online classes for MTSU.
Required Education
A master’s degree in criminal justice or a closely related field is required by the appointment date. Closely related fields include, but are not limited to, emergency management, homeland security, and fire science. A JD will also satisfy the required education.
Required Related Experience
Four courses of prior college-level teaching experience is required. To be credited for the experience, applicants should list each course individually on their CV. Course listings should include the employer, course title, number of credit hours, and dates of employment.
Other Desirables
Applicants with prior employment in law, law enforcement, corrections, homeland security, or emergency management will receive special consideration. In addition, applicants with experience teaching using D2L will receive special consideration.
