Job Summary/Basic Function
The Center for Teaching and Mentoring (formerly the LT&ITC) invites tenured MTSU faculty to apply for the position of director. This is a nine-month position with allocation for partial summer pay. This role involves overseeing all aspects of the center’s operations and staff and implementing plans for the re-envisioned center. The successful candidate will partner with and report directly to the Vice Provost for Faculty & Strategic Initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement the mission, vision, and goals of the reimagined center, ensuring alignment with university goals.
- Provide leadership to all center staff.
- Develop and sustain campus and community partnerships to support professional growth for faculty and Academic Affairs staff.
- Facilitate strategic and long-range planning.
- Plan, request, and monitor budgets.
- Develop and present annual reports summarizing the center’s activities.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase faculty and staff use of the center’s services.
- Oversee evaluation and assessment of center services, programs, etc.
- Ensure alignment with national trends and best practices for teaching, learning, mentoring and professional growth.
- Develop and maintain regional and national connections with relevant organizations.
- Assess and oversee grant-writing and fundraising opportunities to support the center.
- Direct the center’s marketing and social media presence.
- Serve as liaison to the Provost's Office through the Vice Provost for Faculty & Strategic Initiatives on all matters relevant to the center.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Required Related Experience
Full-time, tenured faculty status at MTSU is required. In addition, a minimum of two (2) years demonstrated department, school, or center leadership and supervisory experience at MTSU is required. The cover letter or CV should explicitly highlight the applicant's two years of leadership or supervisory experience by including the dates (months and years) in the position(s).
