Job Summary/Basic Function
The CBAS Information Technology Specialist works with students, faculty, and administrators facilitating the use of technology across the College. The Specialist's responsibilities include the installation, maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of the faculty, staff, classroom and laboratory computer systems in the College of Basic & Applied Sciences. Install, repair, troubleshoot hardware, software and network problems in computer systems and related technologies across the college. Provide interfacing and networking solutions for third-party research instrumentation across the College, ensuring compatibility with institutional IT and cybersecurity protocols. Provide consultation services for faculty and staff with computing (hardware and software) needs as well as interfacing of research and instructional instrumentation. Develop and promote the information technology resources to support academic and research objectives of students, faculty and staff. Troubleshoot emergent technology issues for faculty, staff, and students across the College. Coordinate the acquisition, development, and use of multiple technology resources used to support and enhance student's educational experience as well as faculty research efforts. Responsibly manage the annual budget allocated for supporting these acquisitions and activities. Perform other related tasks as assigned.
Required Education
Bachelor's degree in computer science or a directly related field. High School diploma and seven (7) years directly related, progressively responsible computer maintenance experience may be considered in lieu of the Bachelor's degree.
Required Related Experience
Three (3) years progressively responsible experience with computer maintenance and repair, technical support and or end user support required.
