Job Summary/Basic Function

Two positions available: one for the College of Basic & Applied Sciences; one for the College of Behavioral & Health Sciences. Reporting to the Dean, the Manager of Strategic Communications will manage the communication and marketing services for the college, its academic departments, programs, and centers. The incumbent provides guidance and direction for advancing the mission and vision of the college through the development and implementation of communications, marketing, and multi-media strategies; creates and implements marketing campaigns and multi-media strategies for enhancing student recruitment, alumni involvement, donor giving, and the promotion of academic programs, centers and specialized initiatives. The incumbent manages personnel assigned, as part of their duties, to assist with communication and marketing initiatives. This person will serve as a key member of the college leadership team, as the college marketing liaison with other unit Managers of Strategic Communications and MTSU Marketing, and will promote a consistent, professional, and integrated brand for the college. As a representative of the college, duties include travel to represent the college at public events for recruitment, strategic communication, and development activities.

Required Education

Bachelor’s degree in marketing and communications or related field; Preferred master’s in marketing and communications or related field

Required Related Experience

Website content development and management; Demonstrated written and oral communication skills to reach target audiences and key stakeholders; Demonstrated knowledge of current and emerging technology, media, and digital communications and how to implement appropriate strategies for specific projects; Ability to effectively organize and manage personnel and multiple concurrent projects; Marketing and managing academic events for community and campus audiences; Maintenance of data and report generation on communication effectiveness

Desirable Related Experience

Three years of progressively responsible experience in managing marketing and strategic communications in an organization.
