Job Summary/Basic Function

The Department of University Studies at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, temporary (non-tenurable) faculty position (#182010) at the rank of lecturer. This is a one-year temporary appointment with a possible annual renewal for up to three years. The start date for the appointment is August 1, 2024.

The successful candidate will primarily teach University Seminar and Successful Transition courses to first-year and transfer students. These courses are designed to equip students with tools that promote their transition to the university in a manner that leads to academic success. In addition, teaching other courses, such as Professional Studies (PRST), may be required as needed to satisfy a full-time teaching workload each semester.

The successful candidate is expected to have the following:

  • Knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques for teaching.
  • Computers, Internet, and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Ability to advise, instruct, manage, motivate, and evaluate students in the field of study.
  • Ability to integrate technology into the teaching and learning process.
  • Ability to interact professionally with students, other educators, educational institution representatives, and the general public.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written communication.
  • Ability and willingness to learn software specific to MTSU.

Required Education

A master's degree is required by the appointment date.

Other Desirables

Applicants with higher education teaching experience will receive special consideration.
