Job Summary/Basic Function
Middle Tennessee State University's Department of Theatre and Dance invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Dance (#126560) at the rank of assistant/associate professor. Start date for the position is August 1, 2021. Position contingent upon funding.
This position will be responsible for teaching advanced level technique classes in at least two of the following: modern dance, contemporary dance, and/or ballet, and will also teach coursework in kinesiology and dance conditioning. Additional expertise in injury prevention, health and wellness for the dancer, dance science, and somatics will be considered. Position requires the ability to teach all levels of majors and minors, focused on training in a broad range of dance practices, as well as general education students. This position will also regularly choreograph for MTSU Dance Theatre fall and spring semester concerts, produced as part of our Department of Theatre and Dance co-curricular season. Other services to the program could include undergraduate student advising and mentorship, outreach and recruitment, and departmental and university service assignments. Ongoing professional creative activity and/or scholarship is expected.

Required Education
Terminal degree in Dance or closely related discipline by appointment date
Other Desirables
Applicants who have experience teaching dance majors and minors in an undergraduate dance program, demonstrated ability to teach both practical and theoretical coursework, professional performance and choreography experience, and/or those who have engagement with professional dance organizations will receive special consideration.
