Job Summary/Basic Function

Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) is seeking a passionate and innovative educator to join our dynamic Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology program. This full-time, tenure-track faculty position (#130010) offers the opportunity to inspire and mentor undergraduate students while contributing to meaningful research and service. We welcome candidates who bring diverse perspectives and experiences and are committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service. The start date for the position is August 1, 2026.

Responsibilities

As a valued member of our faculty, you will:

  • Teach foundational and specialized undergraduate courses in speech-language pathology and audiology
  • Supervise undergraduate honors research and student clinicians
  • Advise and mentor students
  • Engage in university and public service
  • Pursue research and grant-writing aligned with your interests

Potential teaching areas include:
Phonetics, Anatomy and Physiology of the Speech and Hearing Mechanism, Hearing and Speech Science, Speech Sound Disorders, and Neurogenic Communication Disorders.

We prioritize aligning teaching assignments with your expertise and interests to support your professional growth and impact.

Required Education

A terminal degree in speech-language pathology or a closely related field is required by the appointment date. Closely related fields may include, but are not limited to, communication science and disorders, neuroscience, hearing science, linguistics, health, and psychology.

Required License/Registration/Certification

Applicants must hold or be eligible for the ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) and TN state licensure.

Other Desirables

Applicants with experience in clinical supervision and intervention with linguistically and culturally diverse populations and those with prior research and grant-writing experience will receive special consideration
