Assistant Director - Executive Air Transportation/Chief Pilot Murfreesboro, Tennessee
The Assistant Director of Executive Air Transportation/Chief Pilot is responsible for directing all operational aspects of MTSU Executive Air Transportation services to support the transportation needs of the University. Reporting to the Director of Aerospace – Airport Operations, this position ensures strict compliance with regulatory requirements and safety standards, manages flight operations, and leads flight crewmembers to include preparation of annual performance evaluations. Oversees executive air transportation aircraft to include piloting, crew scheduling, route planning, and arranging/overseeing trip details and passenger needs. Administers the Executive Air Transportation budget and billing. Arranges for completion of all scheduled/unscheduled aircraft maintenance. Maintains all required FAA and Departmental personnel, training, aircraft, and other records. Promotes the availability of air transportation services to the University community. Additionally, this role is actively engaged in the MTSU Professional Pilot training program. In close coordination with Flight Training Management, duties include developing and administering practicum experiences in air carrier operations, high-performance aircraft flight labs, and implementing/routinely revising ground and flight training curricula, training materials, and methods/objectives. Teaches aerospace coursework, preparing students to achieve required proficiency. Actively participates in programs promoting recruitment and retention efforts within the MTSU Professional Pilot concentration and supporting activities related to the department’s mission and safety program.
