Job Summary/Basic Function
• Determine eligibility and award Tennessee Education Lottery Scholarships (TELS) to entering freshmen, transfer, and continuing students. Calculate award amounts within the assigned Cost of Attendance and calculate need analysis to ensure the aid package remains within federal guidelines.
• Analyze transfer academic transcripts to determine whether a new transfer student meets all continuing eligibility requirements for TELS.
• Prep TELS appeals to be reviewed by the TELS Institutional Review Panel (IRP) and assist in the notification of appeal decisions.
• Certify payment & process payment adjustments for TELS in the Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation (TSAC) FAST system.
• Assist the Financial Aid Coordinator with the reconciliation of TELS funds.
• Provide expert knowledge to inquiries from the MT One Stop and communicate with students & parents regarding the student’s eligibility for TELS and the consequences of dropping courses.
Required Education
High School diploma or High School Equivalency (HSE) required.
Required Related Experience
Two years of progressively responsible experience in an office / customer service environment required. A bachelor’s degree may be considered in lieu of work experience.
Desirable Related Experience
Associate degree (or higher). Knowledge of the Tennessee Education Lottery Scholarship Program student eligibility requirements and experience using the Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation (TSAC) FAST System. Experience using the Banner System or a related Financial Aid Management system.
