Job Summary/Basic Function
The Department of Information Systems and Analytics at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, professor of practice faculty position in Cybersecurity. The start date for the position is August 1, 2025.
The successful candidate will have a distinguished career in cybersecurity who is passionate about teaching and mentoring the next generation of cybersecurity professionals. This non-tenure-track position emphasizes teaching, curriculum development, and industry engagement, allowing the successful candidate to bring real-world expertise to an academic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in cybersecurity, including areas such as network security, ethical hacking, digital forensics, cyber risk management, networking, and cloud security.
- Develop and update curriculum and coursework to ensure alignment with industry standards and emerging trends.
- Foster strong relationships with industry partners to support internships, research opportunities, and collaborative projects.
- Mentor students in practical applications of cybersecurity principles and prepare them for careers in the field.
- Contribute to the development of new programs or certifications in cybersecurity, potentially including partnerships with industry certification bodies.
Required Education
A master's degree in information systems, cybersecurity, information security, or a closely related field is required by the appointment date.
Required Related Experience
Five (5) years of professional experience in cybersecurity, with demonstrated expertise in areas such as network security, ethical hacking/pen testing, incident response, or cyber defense is required.
Required License/Registration/Certification
A CISSP, CISA, CISM or a comparable certification is required.
Other Desirables
Applicants with a terminal degree will receive special consideration.
