Job Summary/Basic Function
The Physician Assistant Studies Program is seeking a part-time/adjunct faculty member for a cadaver-based anatomy course. The Physician Assistant Studies Program is a 27-month-long program to prepare students to enter the medical workforce as accomplished clinicians. Each cohort begins in May. As part of the first semester, students perform human dissection-based anatomy accompanied by in-class lectures.
The program is looking for skilled applicants who can prosect human cadavers, which will arrive on April 25, 2023, and oversee the anatomy lab three times per week for 15 weeks. This is not a lecturer position.
Essential job functions include, but are not limited to:
- prosection of human cadavers
- preparing materials for activities and practicals
- assisting students who need extra review with anatomy
- ensuring lab safety protocols are followed
- grading anatomy laboratory practicals and/or examinations
- maintaining student attendance records and laboratory grades
- continuing to learn and stay up-to-date on developments in the field of anatomy
- overseeing assessments and remediation of lab practicals as needed
Required Education
Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field of study
Required Related Experience
Experience with human cadaver dissection
Other Desirables
The ideal candidate possesses the following traits/skills:
- an understanding of human anatomy
- strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- knowledge of proper cadaver care
- an understanding of the academic learning environment, students, and higher education
- experience handling the tools for dissection/prosection
