Job Summary/Basic Function
Reporting to the Associate Dean for Graduate and Executive Education College of Business; provide program information for the MBA program including the Online MBA program. Serve as liaison to graduate business students from the initial information inquiry stage through the application process; monitor degree requirements and completion of the defined MBA degree program per defined protocol. The Graduate Student Advisor will work with students from the point of matriculation to graduation. The primary role is to provide educational guidance and assistance for students by planning schedules, recommending courses and determining appropriate education solutions. The Graduate Student Advisor will monitor student progression and intervene as necessary to ensure students stay on track for graduation. The Graduate Student Advisor is responsible for the retention of the graduate students and will have ongoing, regular contact with the graduate students to ensure they are aware of available interventions that could help them succeed. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining accurate student records using internal student tracking software to support the retention strategies and evaluate student progress and satisfaction. The incumbent will coordinate the logistics for Executive Education Seminars and graduate student orientation. The Graduate Student Advisor will perform related tasks and special projects as assigned. Note: a flexible work schedule is required to accommodate student requests for advising after traditional work hours.
Required Education
Master's degree, MS in Guidance, MBA or other education discipline. Note: A Bachelor's degree plus three (3) years of directly related progressively responsible experience may be considered in lieu of a master's degree.
Required Related Experience
No experience required with a Master's degree.
Desirable Related Experience
Preference given to candidates with Master's degree. Three years experience in advising college students and adult working students preferred. Candidates familiar with AACSB accreditation standards preferred.
