Job Summary/Basic Function
The Research Compliance Officer (RCO) ensures institutional compliance with diverse governmental regulations, policies and procedures on research involving human and animal subjects. The RCO monitors daily operations related to research protocols dealing with human subjects; serves as an Institutional Review Board (IRB) member; facilitates hazardous materials oversight (IBC); monitors responsible conduct of research training; processes Conflict of Interest (COI) disclosures; reviews university policies and procedures for conducting research with human and animal subjects; participates in external and internal inspections with the IACUC: audits and prepares reports and operating procedures; and makes effective recommendations to the Vice Provost Research.
Required Education
Master's degree
Required Related Experience
Two years progressively related research experience.
Desirable Related Experience
Master's or Doctoral degree in physical or social sciences preferred. Three years of research compliance experience, working with an Institutional Review Board. Knowledge of compliance issues related to university-based research (IRB, IACUC). Experience with Cayuse or other eRA software.
