Salary

The salary is commensurate with education and experience. An additional research stipend as the chairholder will be provided as well as a research startup package for a select number of years. The chairholder is expected to fund 90% of their salary and benefits with extramural funding within five (5) years with annual progress towards this goal.  

Job Summary/Basic Function

The Office of the Vice Provost for Research at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a 12-month, full-time, non-tenurable, research-track faculty position as the holder of the Adams Chair of Excellence in Health Care Services. Applicants must be eligible to meet the criteria for associate professor or professor rank. The start date for the position is August 1, 2023.

The successful candidate will develop and maintain a robust and ongoing extramurally funded research program in health care, serve as a resource in grantsmanship for faculty, and inspire faculty and students to progress in research and scholarly endeavors. The chairholder will collaborate with the Center for Health and Human Services, a primarily externally funded public-health-focused center, on mutually beneficial research, projects, and programs where health care and public health intersect.

Responsibilities of the chair include providing visionary research leadership in health care at the state and national levels and leading an interdisciplinary research team(s) around the topic of health care.

Required Education

A terminal degree in the health care field (including an MD) or a closely related discipline offered at Middle Tennessee State University is required by the appointment date.

Other Desirables

Applicants who are health care experts and leaders in national health care professional organizations will receive special consideration.
