Job Summary/Basic Function

Serve as the main contact for the School of Journalism and Strategic Media (SoJSM); serve as the social media contact person for SoJSM; respond to questions from prospective students and the public--especially when generated through social media, respond to faculty, students, staff and the general public. Perform routine office matters such as responding to information requests via social media, phone or email. Serve as backup to Executive Aide based on workload needs or absence. Maintain reaccreditation files to assist with completing self-study and track assessment plan indicators and faculty public service efforts. Provide social media coordination assistance to Director related to student recruiting and retention efforts. Schedule and be able to conduct tours for prospective students and assist with coordination of SoJSM high school recruiting activities. Complete hiring forms and oversee student workers and tutors. Maintain and reconcile student worker/tutoring and faculty travel budgets. Coordinate SoJSM events such as Lecture Series or Career Fairs, including arranging location, menu, audio/visual equipment, parking, etc. Perform other related tasks and special projects as assigned.

Required Education

Bachelor of Science in Journalism, Media, Communication or other related area required.
Note: a high school diploma or high school equivalency and four years of related experience may be considered in lieu of Bachelor's degree.

Required Related Experience

Demonstrated record of progressively responsible social media and office experience required.

Desirable Related Experience

Prior experience working in a higher education academic or student services setting highly desired.
