Job Summary/Basic Function

Successful candidates will teach lower-level college mathematics courses, on site and online, and must have the capacity to work with students with varying abilities.  Availability to teach night and dual enrollment classes will be expected also.

These positions require the online lecturers to regularly and predictably be available to online students both in class and office hours. The posted online office hours should be the same number of hours as required of FTTs teaching on-campus courses. The people hired must be residents of Tennessee and will be required to meet occasionally with the chair of the department or MTSU administration as requested. Travel expenses are the responsibility of the faculty member. Prior to beginning the teaching of online courses, the faculty must receive the appropriate online training and/or certification to teach MTSU online classes.
 
Successful candidates may also teach sections of dual enrollment courses at a local high school. The sections will be offered as part of the normal high school course schedule and will conform to the high school academic calendar and bell schedule. The incumbent will need to communicate regularly with the high school administration as well as with MTSU University Studies to coordinate planned course activities with the high school calendar.

Required Education

Master’s degree in Mathematics or closely related field with at least 18 graduate hours in mathematics from an accredited college or university required by appointment date.

Other Desirables

Candidates who posses two years full-time teaching experience will receive special consideration.
