Job Summary/Basic Function

The ACEJMC accredited School of Journalism and Strategic Media at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for two full-time, temporary (non-tenurable) faculty positions (143140 and 143400) at the rank of Lecturer. This is a one year temporary appointment with possible annual renewal for up to three years total. Start date for the appointment is August 1, 2021. Position contingent upon funding.

Successful candidates will teach some combination of media writing, digital media skills, public relations writing, publication layout using InDesign, or other coursework within the candidate's background and the needs of the School. The applicant's cover letter should clearly identify areas of teaching proficiency.

Required Education

Master's degree in journalism, mass communication, or communication-related field.

A bachelor's degree with a minimum of 10 years demonstrated exceptional profession experience in journalism, public relations, or other media areas may be considered in lieu of a Master's degree.

Required Related Experience

Minimum four years professional media experience with a graduate degree, or 10 years experience without a graduate degree.

Other Desirables

Those with instructional knowledge and teaching ability in advertising will receive special consideration.
