Job Summary/Basic Function

The Department of English at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for four full-time, temporary (non-tenurable) faculty positions (#123030, #123120, #123600, and #123340) at the rank of Lecturer. These are one year appointments with possible annual renewal for up to three years total. Start date for the positions is August 1, 2021. Positions contingent upon funding.

Successful candidates will teach first-year writing courses, with the possibility of teaching general education literature as enrollment trends permit.

Required Education

Candidate must meet at least one of the following three degree requirements:
1. Master of Arts in any of the following disciplines: · English · Linguistics · Rhetoric / Composition · Professional/Technical Writing
2. Masters of Fine Arts in Creative Writing
3. Master of Arts in a closely related field with at least 18 hours of graduate coursework in classes with English, Linguistics and/or Technical Writing prefixes

Other Desirables

Applicants who possess a PhD in English, Linguistics, Rhetoric/Composition, or Professional/Technical Writing and applicants with two or more years of full-time experience teaching college-level writing classes will receive special consideration.
