Job Summary/Basic Function

The Department of Health and Human Performance at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, temporary (non-tenurable) faculty position (#118750) at the rank of Lecturer for Physical Education Pedagogy. This is a one year appointment with possible annual renewal for up to three years total. Start date for the position is August 1, 2021. Position contingent upon funding.

Applicants should possess academic qualifications for teaching undergraduate courses in a standards-based program. Some of these courses may include elementary and/or secondary methods, elementary content courses with an emphasis in skill acquisition, motor behavior, kinesiology/biomechanics, adapted physical education, fitness education, physical education for the classroom teacher and field experience supervision. Successful candidate may have to supervise Physical Education student teachers and travel to teaching sites each semester. Modeling “best practices” and contributing to a high quality undergraduate PETE pedagogy programs are important attributes. Knowledge in edTPA and TEAM would be advantageous. Evidence of professional service in state, district, or national physical education associations is desirable. The successful applicant will have evidence of his/her commitment to quality teaching and working with students from diverse backgrounds.

Required Education

Earned master’s in Physical Education or closely related field

Required Related Experience

Three years experience teaching K-12 physical education

Required License/Registration/Certification

K-12 teaching certification in physical education

Other Desirables

Applicants with a PhD or pursuing a PhD may receive special consideration.
