Job Summary/Basic Function
Middle Tennessee State University's, ACEJMC accredited School of Journalism and Strategic Media invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Public Relations (#143360) at the rank of assistant/associate professor. Start date for the position is August 1, 2021. Position contingent upon funding.
Our new colleague will understand the intersections of public relations, strategic communication, and advertising. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching and preparing undergraduate students for careers in public relations and strategic communication which includes teaching public relations courses in areas relevant to the applicant’s expertise (identified during online application submittal). These would include undergraduate and graduate courses. The successful candidate will mentor students, engage in active research, and contribute to the school and university through service. We are looking for a high-energy candidate with a strong desire to grow enrollment in the program through teaching public relations.

Required Education
Terminal degree in Journalism or Communication or an area closely related to the position. A master’s degree accompanied by at least ten (10) years public relations agency experience may stand in lieu of the terminal degree.
Required Related Experience
Minimum of two years professional public relations experience
Other Desirables
Applicants who possess educational or workplace diversity, equity, and inclusion knowledge or experience as well as those with experience or the desire to teach remote or online coursework, and/or those with quantitative skills and digital analytics skills will receive special consideration.
