The Honors College Advisor will work with students in a wide variety of majors throughout the university who are taking honors classes. The advisor will provide assistance with honors class enrollment, conduct workshops, monitor student progression in the Honors College, and intervene as necessary to ensure that students are staying on-track to progress with honors requirements. The advisor must maintain accurate and confidential records using internal student tracking software to support the retention strategies and to evaluate student progress and satisfaction. The individual must be a team player; the advisor will participate in CUSTOMS orientation sessions and recruiting events, some of which will involve occasional evenings, overnight trips, and weekend hours. The advisor will perform related tasks and special projects as assigned and is expected to participate in professional development. Prior experience with undergraduate research, Study Abroad, student organizations, and leadership development and community service programs are welcomed but not required for full consideration. |

The Tennessee Small Business Development Center (TSBDC) at MTSU seeks an energetic business development specialist to provide one-on-one business consultation and counseling for entrepreneurs and business owners.
The business development specialist will help implement the center’s strategic vision of assisting business owners and entrepreneurs in starting, growing, and scaling for-profit businesses of all sizes.
The person in this role will evaluate and provide feedback on our clients’ business plans, financials, marketing, human resources, and other business units. This person will also work with, guide, and mentor interns as needed.
This role requires client file management as well as thorough and timely documentation of client meetings and communications. Daily management/execution of office processes, client management, record keeping, verifying adherence to policy and procedure, client outreach, follow-up contacts, tracking survey results, and scheduling are required. Advanced research is a daily expectation. Other duties as assigned.
In this role, you will report to the director of the TSBDC at MTSU. Work will be conducted in-person at the TSBDC located in the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce building as well as at satellite centers within our 14-county service area; mileage expenses will be reimbursed.
Qualifications for this role include a bachelor’s degree in management, business administration or related field and two (2) years progressively responsible related work experience in public or private sector required; eight or more years of direct operational management experience or financial operations/budgeting experience may be substituted for bachelor’s degree. Valid driver’s license required. |
