Job Summary/Basic Function
Working with and reporting to the Dean of Liberal Arts, the Strategic Communications Manager will create and execute a strategy of integrating and enhancing internal and external communications for the College of Liberal Arts and will oversee various communication efforts such as media relations, web communications, social and print media.
Examples include monitoring and updating websites, social media, and digital marketing; supervising creative and production processes and timelines for publications, recordings, and events; serving as the liaison to University Marketing and Communication; supporting college development and fundraising initiatives, including MTSU Arts; promoting faculty, staff, and student achievement; representing the College at public events including some recruitment, and managing crisis communication. This person will be a key member of the College leadership team and promote a consistent, professional, integrated brand that aligns with the strategic mission and goals of the College.
Required Education
Bachelor's degree. Masters degree or graduate coursework in a Liberal Arts discipline or Higher Education field preferred.
Required Related Experience
Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in higher education, non-profit, government, or other industry (or a combination of those experiences). Experience to include: website content management or development; demonstrated written and oral communications skills to reach target audiences and key stakeholders, including prospective students, alumni, and donors; working closely with academic departments, and maintenance of data and report generation to enhance communication effectiveness.
