Job Summary/Basic Function

The Data Science Program at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, temporary (non-tenurable) faculty position (#480020) at the rank of lecturer. This is a one-year temporary appointment with a possible annual renewal for up to three years. The start date for the appointment is August 1, 2024.

The MTSU Data Science Program comprises three academic programs and the Data Science Institute. The academic programs offer degrees at all levels (BS, MS, and PhD). To learn more about our unique program, please visit https://www.mtsu.edu/datascience/index.php

The successful candidate will teach various undergraduate and graduate courses, such as Introduction to Data Science, Communicating with Data, Data Cleansing and Feature Engineering, Applied Predictive Modeling, Data Understanding, Predictive Modeling, or Cases in Data Science. Teaching online courses may be required. In addition, the successful candidate will have demonstrated potential for outstanding teaching and excellent written and oral communication skills.

Required Education

A master’s degree in data science, business, finance, information systems, mathematics, statistics, computer science, economics, or a closely related field is required by the appointment date.

Other Desirables

Applicants with teaching experience or a PhD in a field closely related to data science will receive special consideration.
