Job Summary/Basic Function

The Department of Art and Design at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for two full-time, temporary (non-tenurable) faculty positions (#111100 and #122280) at the rank of lecturer for Art Foundations. These are one-year temporary appointments with a possible annual renewal for up to three years. The start date for the appointments is August 1, 2024.

The successful candidates will primarily teach perceptual, technical, and conceptual development in foundations-level drawing and two-dimensional design courses. The successful candidates are expected to be proficient in digital art and design software.

Required Education

An MFA with any studio emphasis is required by the appointment date.

Other Desirables

Applicants with two (2) years of full-time teaching experience in Art Foundations beyond a graduate assistantship will receive special consideration. Applicants with degrees emphasizing a studio emphasis, drawing, or painting will also receive special consideration.

All materials should be labeled and organized. Please ensure student work is labeled with the course title or a brief description if possible. Portfolio submittal may be accomplished by uploading the PDF portfolio(s) as "Other Document 1" or by providing a link(s) either in their curriculum vitae or in a document uploaded as "Other Document 1."  The link(s) must be active and working at the time of application submission and remain so until the search is complete.
