Job Summary/Basic Function

Director, Information Security Infrastructure reports to the Assistant Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer. The primary role will be supporting the duties of the Information Security Office, specifically: responsible for the governance and designing of secure architecture for MTSU information systems following best practices; mentoring direct reports to increase security knowledge and skills; document processes and technology to ensure the security of all MTSU systems, data collected, stored, and transmitted by MTSU required to fulfill the university's mission; facilitate the communication and awareness of information security policies and best practices on the university campus; develop, maintain, and review security configuration data on firewalls and related security software and/or services; inspect system and network logs and event data for integrity and anomalies; collaborate with ITD staff to design and implement strategic information technology initiatives securely and assist in explaining/training employees on new initiatives and common security best practices as required; supervise information security office team members as assigned and perform related tasks and special projects as assigned.

Required Education

Bachelor’s degree in computer science and 5 years as a practitioner of cybersecurity OR Master’s degree in Cybersecurity in lieu of experience.

Required Related Experience

With Bachelor's degree, five (5) years minimum of progressively responsible experience, including implementing data security best practices, procedures, and methods; supervisory responsibility of team members, developing enterprise information technology security procedures and policies; configuring and administering firewalls and Intrusion Detection Systems; knowledge of current Windows Server, Linux, and Mac operating systems. Administration and configuration of Splunk SEIM tool. Experience with Sophos Endpoint Protection, KnowBe4 Awareness Training, MS Defender Security suite, MS Azure, Active Directory, DHCP, Powershell, Firewalls and IPS/IDS.

With Master's degree in Cybersecurity no experience is required.

Required License/Registration/Certification

CISSP

Desirable License/Registration/Certification

Additional industry security certification preferred.
