Job Summary/Basic Function

Reporting to the Director of the Charlie and Hazel Daniels Veterans and Military Family Center (Daniels Center), provide administrative office support and serves a large population of student-veterans (approximately 1100 student veterans or eligible dependents). The Daniels Center will serve outside groups such as prospective students, nonprofits, VA, and military. Essential tasks will include: answer the telephone; transfer calls, take messages; greet, assist and direct visitors; schedule appointments; prepare and process paperwork to include correspondence, reports, travel, etc. Create and maintain an effective filing system using appropriate filing protocols. Assist with event planning for formal annual events hosted by the Daniels Center i.e., three Graduating Stole Ceremonies, and six Veteran Orientations, 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony, etc. The administrative assistant will assist with event logistics such as reserving space, ordering food, preparing the programs, and paying invoices. Assist to monitor student workers (approx. 5), schedule and maintain work records, review time sheets and submit for Director approval. Maintain and reconcile Daniels Center's operational and foundation account budgets and prepare invoices for signature and payment. Responsible for the general upkeep of the Center; order necessary office supplies, submit work orders, and follow up with campus offices as needed to secure information or services, and perform other related tasks and special projects as assigned.

Required Education

High School diploma or High School Equivalency required.

Required Related Experience

Two years directly related progressively responsible, secretarial/clerical experience required.
Note: An Associate's degree (two years of college coursework) and one year experience may be considered in lieu of work experience.

Desirable Related Experience

Four years progressively responsible clerical experience preferred. Preference will be given to a veteran or a military family member.

Desirable License/Registration/Certification

CAP/CPS certification strongly preferred.
