Job Summary/Basic Function

The Department of Media Arts at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, temporary (non-tenurable) faculty position (#120120) at the rank of Lecturer. This is a one-year temporary appointment with a possible annual renewal for up to three years. The start date for the appointment is January 1, 2023. The position is contingent upon funding.

The successful candidate may teach various aspects of the animation industry, such as preproduction, 3D, 2D, motion graphics, VFX, compositing, visualization, and animation aesthetics using current industry standard tools. Teaching will be on-ground and may also include some online or online synchronous teaching. The successful candidate should have experience with Adobe Creative Suite and other high-end 2D or 3D animation software and will also benefit from having drawing and draftsmanship skills.

Required Education

A terminal degree (MFA) in Animation or a closely related field and three (3) years of related professional industry experience is required, or a bachelor’s degree in Animation or a closely related field with five (5) years of directly related industry experience in animation may be considered.

Other Desirables

Applicants with three (3) years of experience teaching related subjects at the college level will receive special consideration.
