Job Summary/Basic Function

The MTeach program at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for two non-tenurable, clinical-track faculty positions (#125190 and #288020) at the rank of instructor. The start date for the position is August 1, 2022. The positions are contingent upon funding.

The successful applicants will teach and supervise undergraduate and post-baccalaureate students in courses and experiences related to field-based teacher preparation. Primary responsibilities include teaching field-based courses students take in their pursuit of certification, working with local area public school teachers who act as mentors for students, and conducting field observations of the students teaching in classrooms. The successful applicants will be vital members of the MTeach team and are expected to have expertise in the appropriate use of instructional technology. Master Teachers may also have the opportunity to participate in offering dual enrollment courses in their field of expertise. Additional duties will include student mentoring, advising, and other program-related tasks. Interest in participating in the professional preparation program is expected. Required Education

Master’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Geosciences, Science Education, Mathematics Education, Agriculture Education, Education: Curriculum and Instruction, or Education: Administrative and Supervision is required by the appointment date.

Required Related Experience

A minimum of five (5) years of experience as a secondary classroom teacher with expertise in the appropriate use of instructional technology is required.

Other Desirables

Applicants with degrees in Agriculture, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, and Geosciences, as well as those with public school teaching experience, will receive special consideration.
