Job Summary/Basic Function
Serve as secretary to General Education English Co-Directors. Point person for the General Education English office, receiving, assisting, and directing all initial requests and following through unto completion/resolution. Provide procedural information and answer inquiries related to operational matters. Answer incoming phone calls; provide information, take messages, screen requests on behalf of supervisors, or refer calls to appropriate person. Monitor and update budgetary spending by verifying charges against budget and reconciling numerous accounts on a monthly basis, or as needed. Develop and maintain departmental filing system. Maintain personnel, financial, statistical, and other important records. Draft non-routine correspondence and memos for supervisor's signature; utilize word processing and graphics software to format and generate various materials including correspondence, memos, syllabi, handouts, exams and PowerPoint slides as requested (e.g., awards letters, slides for digital monitors, emails to students, etc.). Assist students with transfer evaluations and substitutions as needed. Perform other related tasks and special projects as assigned.
High School diploma or High School Equivalency (HSE) required.
Required Related Experience
Two years of full time experience in a progressively responsible secretarial position.
Note: Associate's degree or equivalent can be considered in lieu of experience.
Desirable Related Experience
Prior secretarial experience in a higher education setting preferred.
At least, some college course work preferred.
