Job Summary/Basic Function
Emergency Operations Manager, this position is responsible for directing overall functions related to Emergency Management and Emergency Preparedness for MTSU. Directs, controls, and manages planning, training and programming related to Homeland Security, Emergency Preparedness, and Emergency Management and associated response functions. A critical requirement will be to serve as a liaison with local, state, and federal agencies to ensure compliance, research grant opportunities, and be an advocate for the campus regarding Homeland Security, Emergency Preparedness, and Emergency Management.
Bachelors degree required, (preferred fields include Engineering, Engineering Technology, Emergency Management, Industrial Safety, Fire Science, or a related field).
Required Related Experience
Five (5) or more years of experience in emergency preparedness, management, and/or response including Supervisory experience. TEMA certifications: Hazardous Materials Team Operations I Hazardous Materials Team Operations II.
Valid Driver License
Certified Business Continuity Professional, Military Emergency Management Specialist (MEMS), Hazardous Materials Technician, or Fire Department Officer I.
FEMA Independent Study Program(must complete within one year of employment) IS3, IS26, IS61.b, IS62.b, IS63.b, IS100.c, IS111, IS130, IS156, IS200.c, IS230.e, IS235.c, IS271.a, IS317.a, IS325, IS360, IS368, IS395, IS453, IS559, IS700.b, IS800, IS906, IS907, IS908, and IS2900.
Completion of National Emergency Management Basic Academy and/or National Emergency Management Advanced Academy is highly desirable.
