Job Summary/Basic Function
Reporting to the Vice President for the University Advancement (UA), the Director of Strategic Partnerships serves, along with the Assistant Vice President for Advancement, the Director of Development, and the Director of Alumni Relations, as a member of the Division's Leadership Team and an active participant in strategic planning and decision making affecting philanthropic support and constituent engagement. The position is responsible for the development, planning, implementation and management of a comprehensive external corporate engagement program for the University, including, but not limited to: developing strategic partnerships with targeted business and corporations; serving as the University's primary liaison with local Chambers of Commerce and economic development groups; creating synergy between University programs and the business community with a focus on increasing employment and continuing education opportunities through outreach to the regional business community; developing targeted relationships with primary employers of MTSU graduates, marketing educational programs that would be available to their current employees; and expanding contractual research with the private sector to market our capabilities to the business community and help provide a linkage to our faculty/students. The Director will interface with Alumni Affairs and Student Affairs as appropriate in promoting opportunities for employment as well as supporting programming specific to their audiences. Perform other related tasks and special projects as assigned. Extensive travel will be required.
Bachelor's degree required.
Required Related Experience
Ten (10) years progressively responsible experience in a University or business environment with corporate sales and marketing experience, senior management in a university, business/industrial environment or related experience required. Demonstrated proficiency in working with large complex organizations. Must be results oriented with excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Successful managerial experience in a team-oriented environment within a complex organizational structure including budgeting, and strategic planning skills. Must be computer literate and work well with varied constituents. Ability to travel extensively is required. Valid driver's license required
Desirable Related Experience
Master's degree preferred. Comparable professional experience such as corporate sales and marketing experience, senior management in a business/ industrial environment, etc.
