Job Summary/Basic Function
The Department of University Studies at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, temporary (non-tenurable) faculty position (355040) at the rank of Lecturer. This position is for Fall 2021 only. Start date for the appointment is August 1, 2021. Position contingent upon funding.
The successful candidate will teach courses consisting of University Seminar and Successful Transition to first-year and transfer students. These courses are designed to equip students with tools that promote their transition to the university in a manner that leads to academic success.
The successful candidate is expected to possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
-Knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques for teaching.
-Skilled in the use of computers, internet resources, and MS Office Software.
-Ability to advise, instruct, manage, motivate, and evaluate students in field of study.
-Ability to integrate technology in the teaching and learning process.
-Ability to successfully interact professionally with students, other educators, educational institution representatives, and the general pubic.
-Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
-Ability and willingness to learn all software specific to Middle Tennessee State University that is required to perform duties.
A minimum of a Master’s Degree is required.
Applicants who have 2 or more years of experience teaching first-year and transfer students will receive special consideration.
