Job Summary/Basic Function
Serve as the Assistant Vice President for University Police and the Chief of Police. Direct and coordinate campus safety and security functions as the chief law enforcement officer under the direction of the Vice President for Business & Finance. Responsible for overseeing the enforcement of state and local laws; enforcement of University rules and regulations; prevention, suppression, detection and investigation of crime; manage and/or respond to emergency calls; maintain and promote programs to educate the University community on crime prevention; protect life and property; oversee the administration of the University’s Emergency Operations Plan.
Bachelors degree required.
Required Related Experience
Eight years progressively responsible law enforcement experience required that include three years of management experience.
P.O.S.T. Certified in the State of Tennessee or eligible for P.O.S.T. Certification in the State of Tennessee upon hire.
Desirable Related Experience
Masters degree preferred. Eight years progressive leadership experience in higher education law enforcement preferred.
