Job Summary/Basic Function

The Department of Chemistry at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, temporary (non-tenurable) faculty position (#104300) at the rank of Lecturer. This is a one year temporary appointment with possible annual renewal for up to three years total. Start date for the appointment is August 1, 2021. Position contingent upon funding.

The successful candidate will teach sections of Dual Enrollment Chemistry at a local high school and additional courses on the MTSU campus as needed to satisfy a full-time teaching workload every year. The sections will be offered as part of the normal high school course schedule and will conform to the high school academic calendar and bell schedule. Laboratory sessions will typically take place approximately monthly on the MTSU campus on weekends. The incumbent will need to communicate regularly with the high school administration as well as with the General Chemistry coordinator and Department Chair at MTSU to coordinate planned course activities with the high school calendar.

Required Education

Master's degree in Chemistry or a closely related field.

Other Desirables

Applicants with at least three (3) years college level teaching along with evidence of teaching excellence, in the form of evaluations by students and/or peers, or those with a PhD in Chemistry or closely related field will receive special consideration.
