Job Summary/Basic Function

The Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for two full-time, temporary (non-tenurable) Sociology faculty positions (#129030 and #129300) at the rank of Lecturer. These are one year appointments with possible annual renewal for up to three years total. Start date for the positions is August 1, 2021. Positions contingent upon funding.

We seek candidates who can contribute to a program that emphasizes social justice and are willing to work with a diverse student body that includes many first-generation college students. The successful candidate will be expected to teach race/ethnicity, and/or family courses in addition to Introduction to Sociology, Social Problems, or other sociology courses as needed to satisfy a full-time teaching workload each year.

Required Education

A Master's degree in Sociology by appointment date

Other Desirables

Candidates qualified to teach courses in aging and/or gender as well as those who are ABD or have a PhD will receive special consideration.
