Job Summary/Basic Function

Middle Tennessee State University, Department of Theatre and Dance, invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position (#130160) in Theatre History/Theatre Historiography. Rank for the position is at the assistant/associate professor level. Start date for the position is August 1, 2021. Position contingent upon funding.

Primary responsibility includes instruction of coursework in theatre history/historiography. Other responsibilities include teaching courses including Introduction to Theatre and other departmental courses as needed.  The ability to instruct content such as world theatre, ethnicity and/or race in theatre, African-American theatre history, theatre for social change, dramaturgy, and other specialties is desired.  Position requires ability to teach introductory and advanced level classes, advising and mentoring of undergraduate students, and leadership within a large liberal arts training program of approximately 140 undergraduate majors.  Directing one or more shows in the co-curricular season may be possible.  Ongoing professional creative activity and/or scholarship is expected.

Required Education

Terminal degree in Theatre by appointment date.
