Job Summary/Basic Function
Middle Tennessee State University's College of Media and Entertainment, invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position (#144100) at the rank of assistant/associate professor to teach Animation courses in our Department of Media Arts. Start date for the position is August 1, 2021. Position contingent upon funding.
The successful candidate should be able to teach courses related to aspects of the animation industry which could include preproduction, 3D, 2D, motion graphics, VFX, compositing, visualization, and animation aesthetics using current industry standard tools. Teaching will be on-ground and may also include some online teaching.
Training and experience in visual media is expected. Candidates should have experience with Adobe Creative Suite and other high-end 2D or 3D animation, imaging and editing software. Experience with remote teaching, Autodesk Maya, Unity, Unreal Engine, VR/AR/MR, Ross XPressions or other graphics system is desirable.
Required Education
Terminal degree in Animation or related field. A master's degree in Animation or a related field with at least five (5) years demonstrated exceptional industry experience may be considered in lieu of the terminal degree.
Other Desirables
Candidates with previous college-level teaching experience and/or strong industry experience will receive special consideration. Experience with remote teaching is also a plus.
