Job Summary/Basic Function
Middle Tennessee State University, Department of Psychology invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position (#120110) at the rank of assistant/associate professor. Start date for the position is August 1, 2021. Position contingent upon funding.
The position requires undergraduate and graduate teaching, thesis supervision, and the development of a research program. Teaching may include abnormal psychology, health psychology, personality, issues and ethics in mental health services, and theories of counseling.
The mission of our psychology department is to promote the personal and professional success of students from all backgrounds, groups, and orientations, regardless of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sexuality, gender, age, ability, and culture, by providing the best possible academic experience in and out of the classroom. We serve a diverse student body of approximately 1000 undergraduate majors and nearly 200 graduate students. Nearly half of our majors are first generation, half are transfer students, 40% identify as non-White, more than 20% are nontraditional, and 4% identify as veterans. As a department, we respect and value diversity and are committed to supporting and including all students, faculty, and staff. We are working hard to support minority students through a number of diversity and inclusion initiatives.
Terminal degree in Clinical Psychology by appointment date.
Candidates from an APA-approved program and internship and those eligible for licensure in Tennessee as a Health Service Provider will receive special consideration. Additionally, those applicants with an expertise in clinical health psychology will also receive special consideration.

Given the diverse student population served in our department, the diversity statement should address the extent to which applicants can create welcoming and inclusive environments in their classrooms, include diversity topics in their course curriculum, address issues of diversity and inclusion in their research, and mentor students from diverse backgrounds.
