Under the general direction of the Associate Vice President for Infrastructure Services, provide overall leadership, supervision and strategic direction for the Network Services Department to provide quality network services to the University. Tasks include: develop, maintain and review the technology strategy for MTSU enterprise networking; collaborate with other ITD service departments on the overall strategic direction of the University's Information Technology. Develop/oversee the implementation of the network services pricing models, support models, service levels and cost recovery processes. Provide project management for all University renovation and construction projects, including scheduling, asset procurement, vendor coordination and installation certification. Incumbent's span of control includes Data Center LAN, WAN Routing/Switching, Internet, Wireless, Voice, Video/Media Delivery and coverage solutions. Establish and maintain policies and practices to ensure the availability and integrity of all network services at MTSU; Manage and coordinate incident response procedures for network communication disruptions; ensure the review of system and network log and event data for integrity and anomalies. Manage the Network Services team including student workers and perform other related tasks and special projects as assigned.
Senior Network Engineer (Search Extended) Murfreesboro, Tennessee
The Senior Network Engineer reports to the Director of Network Services and will manage projects, including time, resources, and labor across different departments, for the design, administration, and management of all wired and wireless networks across the Middle Tennessee State University campus. Design, install, maintain, troubleshoot, and document network infrastructure. Maximize network performance by monitoring performance, troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades, and collaborating various team members on network optimization. Enhance job knowledge through participation in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, and participating in professional organizations. Research and implement approved new technologies to increase network performance, reliability, and functionality. Develop technology roadmaps by testing new and modified network configurations and new/upgraded hardware and software. Develop plans for implementation, integration, cost, and timeline for updating new and existing technologies. Perform detailed analysis of traffic flows and patterns identifying and resolving performance, scalability, and availability issues. Report network operational status by gathering, prioritizing, and formatting data to inform management of current status and applicable trends. Custodian II Murfreesboro, Tennessee
Under close supervision, perform cleaning and maintenance of designated area for Housing and Residential Life. Duties will include: Sweep, mop, and buff stairs, corridors and floors; vacuum carpet; shampoo carpet; wash windows; polish furniture, clean woodwork. Pick up litter on campus. Empty trash and clean containers. Clean bathroom walls, floors, fixtures, and replenish supplies. Clean ramps on outside of buildings periodically using pressure washer. We seek individuals with a terminal degree in the Sciences, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) fields who are interested in participating in an intensive two-year post-doctoral training program that will prepare them to conduct rigorous Discipline-Based Education Research (DBER) and become boundary spanners in their respective fields. The program will provide scholars with extensive collaborative and individualized mentoring and professional development activities to prepare them for achieving their career goals related to DBER. Fellows will have opportunities to collaborate with faculty conducting DBER scholarship within MTSU’s Interdisciplinary Mathematics and Sciences Education Ph.D. Program and the Tennessee STEM Education Center, as well as with faculty in the College of Education. Successful candidates should desire to work in a collaborative, interdisciplinary, and cross-departmental team environment of professional staff, students, faculty, and administrators.
