Job Summary/Basic Function
Middle Tennessee State University's Jennings A. Jones College of Business invites applicants for the Joey A. Jacobs Chair of Excellence in Accounting. This is a non-tenurable position (#110060) with open rank considered and may begin as early as January 1, 2022. Position contingent upon funding.
Those selected for a Chair of Excellence are expected to be accomplished leaders in the academic and/or professional community. Through their teaching, service, and scholarly activity, these extraordinary members of our academic family will be expected to provide leadership in their field and energize our campus by attracting national attention to MTSU.
As the designated holder of the Joey A. Jacobs Chair of Excellence in Accounting, the incumbent will be expected to:
- engage in innovative teaching and research in a specific area of accounting;
- publish the results of his/her research and/or creative activity in scholarly journals and/or professional publications;
- organize seminars and workshops for the various audiences served by the discipline;
- develop coursework on timely and relevant topics;
- collaborate with colleagues, not only in Jones College but across campus and across the country;
- provide campus leadership to ensure the University fulfills its goals and commitment to its external audiences;
- support partnerships with external constituents;
- foster a culture of engagement and interaction with the business and professional community;
- promote quality and the maintenance of a student-centered environment.
The chairholder will provide an annual report on his/her activities and accomplishments to Joey A. Jacobs. Additionally, the MTSU Foundation will provide the donor with an annual accounting of endowment performance and activity.
Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, economics, or a closely related field
Required Related Experience
Five (5) years of professional experience substantial responsibility
Those with a post-baccalaureate degree or with professional certifications relevant to prior professional experience, such as CPA, CMA, CFE, GGMA, CFA, etc., will receive special consideration.
